Let's more seriously consider what's happening with human trafficking. I do not believe people do not care about the suffering of trafficking survivors or victims. I don't think people don't care or don't like caring about them. It seems to me that most people simply do not know: 1) what to think about human trafficking and 2) what to do about human trafficking.
